Microsquirt

I always wondered why nobody uses this system. Its a proven setup at a great price. Maybe they are not reliable in the harsh weather?

i have heard about a megasquirt on a phazer. Some college did it for one of those green snowmobile challenges. Sounded like alot of work to get it runnin actually.

The hardware is a good price but the programming for it and building the tables would be the problem.

yeah, lots more work. its cheap as far as the harware and all, not terrible complex to setup, BUT, its got a LOT of details to fill in to get the sled to run right.

you have unlimited control over your fuel map, which is great for fine tuning, exept figuring it out initially can be a HANDFULL, most people have NO Idea how much is going on in a stock ecu, now try making that all for yourself and having it run good.. would work if you had days and days to sit with a laptop playing with it and knew what you were doing.

Ive tried it and you better have some vast knowledge on EFI systems and alot of free time to get it to work right. Very complex systems, but fine tuned systems

A complete stand alone is very complex and time consuming to set up. Current efi piggybacks we have for sleds now are as brutally simple as it gets. I have a '03 chev truck i turbo'ed and it took me days to tune, and i already had all the stock tables and reference tunes from some turbo ls1's.Keep in mind this was just adding a turbo and changing the injectors on an already existing properly running setup let alone starting from scratch... I think it had something like 120 different tables?

You are correct 120 tables and lots of ecu setup info that is needed, I am working on a triple setup right now that is getting closer every day but I will have endless hours into setup, testing ,trial and error work.In the end it will be well worth the 500+ HP that it will make.

its perfect for the 1 off custom toy sled, but not at all practical for the masses. way to much time and effort, and considering what the new dobeck 3.5 boxes can do, theres really not much need to mess with stuff IMO.... or at least for most people it is.

I have thought about going this route for other projects but finding a throttle body/injector body has held me back. Singles cylinders are not a problem but multiple cylinders is tough and costly.

For a start you would need to know what is in the factory ecu and i cant see cat giving that up. Would there be anybody that would have this.
