Matryx SKS Tunnel vs. Pro-RMK

I’m considering purchasing an SKS rental sled for a mountain mod sled build. My main concern is the tunnel on the SKS. I don’t want to run the bulkhead cooler, but I assume I can swap in a standard bulkhead close off plate to delete that cooler. Does the 146 SKS tunnel have the same tunnel coolers as the RMK? Also, does anyone know if the skid mounting points are in the same location as the Pro-RMK?

Are you trying to create more track clearance / room for snow evacuation by removing the front bulkhead cooler?

The area of the tunnel mounted coolers is about the same for the SKS and the RMK 146. I do not if the two different suspensions have similar tunnel mount positions.

Yes, exactly.

It seems you can buy a rental SKS for about $3000 with high mileage. I thought if I was changing the motor, suspension, and skid anyway, this might be a good route to go. If the tunnels are substantially different, it might be better to just start with a Pro-RMK.

I haven’t decided if I’ll go 155 or 165 yet, but am I crazy to think a 165 skid could work under the 146 SKS tunnel?

The SKS tunnel is a trail tunnel and same as a Switchback Assault. It has full length extruded coolers and a chain case. Doubt thats what you are looking for.

Thanks for the input. I realized the tunnel differences after studying the parts diagrams. Luckily, I picked up a very clean 2023 Pro 155 rental sled a couple of days ago for $3500 so I’m going to use this instead!
