Made good progress yesterday in getting all of the permissions for all the different membership categories working properly and most of the Moderation Tools back on line.

Started work on the new Look and Feel of the forums.
Think we will have something everyone likes and that offers MAX user features at the same time.


Trying VERY hard to make this new forum KILLER.

This new forum should offer three routes into it.
Desktop via any browser you chose.


Mobile via the inherent responsive design.
Mobile via Tapatalk for max efficiency w/ minimum features

Mobile via the Phone App which is still aimed at High Efficiency with reduced features due to interface size constraints.




In the end, I don't think anything we offer will have as many total features as the desktop browser interface. Your ability to access all of the features we will be offering will be a direct result of how many pixels your screen has and how big your thumbs are.

Many of the highly customized features that the new forum will contain will NOT be supported in either the Tapatalk nor the dedicated phone apps. Both of those will get you into the forums for all of the CORE features, but much of our custom goodies will require a regular browser and a larger screen (Tablet, Laptop, Desktop or a LARGE PHONE) where you can manipulate all of the options.

This is what we are going to try to get done this week.


#1.
Validate that the PAID membership module is working.

#2.
Get the new User Theme installed and configured.

#3.
Get all of the new custom AdOns installed and configured.

#4.
Let the Mods terrorize all of the above and find holes in our otherwise perfect battle plan.

And #5, the BIGGIE.
Our first SYNCHRONIZATION of the Test Database to the Current Database. With all the AdOns in place we should now be in a position to do a full import of the current live database into our sandbox.

If all this gets done this week, Then on Monday, we will invite the premium members into the new forum and let them begin testing as well.

So I DID find one this afternoon.
It has been in BETA for the last year, but looks pretty dang good.


So we MIGHT have a solution for this..




Performing the FIRST TRIAL database Synchronization right now.


Last time we did this it took 96 hours.
Utterly INSANE amount of time.


Hoping for 24 hours this time!

We would be at month 14 since I began this journey.




UPDATE:

The first synchronization of the test database to the live database APPEARS to have just concluded. Give or take about 24 hours from start to finish, rather than the previous 96!


This marks the first time we have been able to import all of the Thread RATINGS, Threads Viewed By and Post Thanks as well as the Threads themselves.


This is a major milestone..


When are installing and configuring the new forum THEME software right now.


Once that is done we will export the new updated database from our internal development server over to the live Beta server and let the Moderators have at it.

HEADS UP.


Over the course of today you will see the forums running VERY VERY SLOW.


This is the result of the ongoing Database Sync in the background.


We are processing about 25x more data than our servers normally handle, and its smoking the CPUs and Drives HARD now..
