i bought a new motor and it didnt come with the mag side crank seal. so i ordered a new seal from polaris. well i took my mag off and that whole assembely and i noticed the seal was in the assembly and not in the cases? is this correct? also the old seal looks sorta cheap, like a CR brand seal that people use on wheel bearings. my new seal looks like a nice factory black rubber peice. so basicly im asking does the seal go in the case or in the cover and then seal betwean the cover and the case with rtv?

mag side

the seal goes in the mag housing. when you reinstall this you use yamabond to seal the housing to the engine case
hope this helps

mower800 is correct on the seal going in the housing and not in the case but dont use yamalube use yamabond, big difference. I am sure thats what he meant, just did not want you to make a huge mistake. CHEERS!
