M8 Max RPM @ WOT

So had a chance to try out the Boss Noss on my 2007 M8 today. First of all, I have to give huge props to Boss Noss; they are a pleasure to deal with, very patient, and very eager to make sure everything works for you. Some of the best customer service I have ever received!

Anyway, what should my max RPM on the M8 be? I was hitting 7800-7900rpm without spraying and when I hit the button would reach around 8300. Obviously you don't just hold the "fun button" for a long time lol... but on short (~5 seconds) bursts...what are guys running for max RPM and getting away with?

Please post up. Thanks very much!

i wanna say i found online for my 08 xf800 that 8200 was the hiest you wanted to go or that was the max for these engines but dont quote me on this. try looking in your sled manuel to see if it has a max rpm in there. i wanna say i found it in there also

Short bursts on the go juice you'll be fine. Cant hold the fun button all day anyways. (thats why the have RG turbo kits) :face-icon-small-ton

I have read that 8,300-8,400 for short bursts is acceptable. I have no idea if it is true though. I run mine without NOSS at 8,200 all day but, I have a BOSS NOSS set up on the way as well. Does your sled have a 60 hp shot? It looks like the nitrous is giving you a 500 RPM boost so I am guessing you have a 60 hp shot. As I understand it, each 10hp shot of nitrous is worth about 100 RPM on top.

Ok, ya 8300-8400 is what I was figurin' as well. Like I said, I'm not going to be holding the button forever so... a few hundred over for short bursts, I am sure is fine.

I am running a 40 shot on my Boss set up. The guys at Boss told me I'd see between 500-700 rpm gain with that. We didn't have a ton of snow yet so it may have just been lack of hooking up and the track just spinning but I was getting a little more than that I think, not by much but a bit. When I tapped the button, it was INSTANT rpm spike. I have never had nos before but I have to say I was impressed. It did what it was supposed to that's for sure. When under hard acceleration and I hit it, I could feel the skis loosen up and lift a lil more. When hit while at high speeds, saw the same instant rpm spike but not any real speed jump. Obviously, running all out making a 500-700rpm more you aren't going to get a lot more speed. But for the acceleration and "power", it does exactly what it claims it will.
