Mine:
Sled year - 2007
Track - 153 Power claw
Rider weight - 250lbs
Altitude - 9-11K
Mods - Y pipe, TS intake
Primary spring - stock yelow/white
Weights - 75gr cat
Secondary spring - stock orange
Helix - 38
Gears - M8 57/63 (best improvement)
Belt - 060
Primary - 3 tower
Peak RPM - 7550rpm
Engagement RPM - 3500ish

Overall is pulls very strong for a basically stock sled. I like the 060 belt with the 3 tower. M8 gearing made a big difference in boondocking. I don;t have any belt heat issues, but my alignment is spot on and I keep the clutches pretty clean. 40/36 helix seemed to upshift too fast for my setup.

Sled year--08 153 sp powerclaw
Track --153 PC
Rider weight -- 180ish
Altitude -- 9500-13k
Mods--airbox removal, 55/65 gearing, reverse delete, fuel box
Primary spring-- stock ti
Weights-- 80g-3post, not 75g as recommend by Cat
Secondary spring-- stock orange w/ assist
Helix-- stock 36
Gears -- 55/65 not 60/60
Peak RPM -- 7450
Engagement RPM-- 4250
General thoughts about the performance-- good, not awesome looking for clutching recommendations, other than going to an RKT or CPC torsion setup.
Seems the more power i made, the more heat that was created by gearing and belt slippage. So i changed gears and increased the primary weight, for more pinch and belts started lasting 300mi +. Instead of 1 belt per ride. Also moved 2ndary in=closer to DD. Which imo, increase the outside sheeve pressure. Good thread i've been waiting for this, info.......

060 belt. this sled chews and blows up 046 belts

It works better than stock weights, but there is more to had. I am installing lots of motor mounts to help, have to start playing with it again this year.

Sled year: 2009 M1000 LE
Track: 162 powder claw
Rider weight: 200lbs
Altitude: 7 / 9000 ft
Mods: SLP pipe, y-pipe, can. V-Force3 reeds, vented side panels, removed LH headlight and installed vent, Left side SLP vent for primary clutch, Frog skins upfront, Holz ice scratchers, Mtn/Machines 9" billet wheels and axle at the back.
Powercommader 3 with SLP download, removed complete factory intake to the snorkel from under the hood, snorkel is covered with 4" SLP flow rite.
Removed all 4 wheels and mounting hardware from rear skid, and I removed 2/3 of the stock snowflap.
Primary: SLP 140/300 spring, AC 85 gram tapered weights.
Secondary: AC stock orange with stock AC helix
Gears: 54/66 BD
Belt: AC 60
Peak RPM: 7800
Engagement: 3600-3700
Comments: This set-up is durable, getting over 500 miles on a belt with no issues of shredding or exploding. Have ridden in alot of different variables [ temp, snow conditions, humidity, with no issues on performance setup. This setup will stretch your arms, and make your compeitors eyes bleed.

my setup

Sled year: 2008 m1000 Nightfire SP
Track: 162 X 2.5" camo extreme
Rider weight: 250ish
Altitude: 6000 - 9000
Mods: full slp exhaust, v force reeds, rkt 13.9:1 head
Primary spring: arctic cat red
Weights: cutler adjustable with roughly 74 grams
Secondary spring: stock orange with shift assist
Helix: stock 36
Gears : stock 60/60
Peak RPM: 7850
Engagement RPM: 3400
General thoughts about the performance: very reliable, running the 060 belt or the carlisle xs117, getting about 500 miles per belt. Very good performace with this setup, makes stockers look slow. Going to go to a 1200cc kit this season so I guess I have to start all over. Anybody with a 1200 would love to see your setup.

anyone running a torsional secondary on their 1000?? i'm thinkin about doing that to my 09 this year.

I have the RKT kit. Have SLP kit, BDX intake, 56/64 gears, BD box. Stock the sled was strong but seem to climb like a bulldozer. Strong but at one speed. Now it attacks the hills. Acts like a 190 hp sled should. :D

We do not have snow yet but put this setup to pal's M1000 SP -09:
Track: Stock PC 153"
Rider weight: nude around 165
Altitude: 0-3000 ft
Mods: Full SLP pipe and BD box. BD numbers taken from SLP instructions
Primary spring: Stock AC purple
Weights: Stock AC 85gr. These will be changed to CPC 80-90 gr adjustables
Secondary spring: Torsional yellow, came with BMP secondary kit. Don't know if this is AC or BMP spring?
Helix: BMP 42/38p, came with secondary kit.
Gears: Stock 60/60
Belt: Stock -060
General thoughts about the performance: There's no snow so no toughts yet.

Anyone running similar setup at same elevation? We'd like to hear some toughts and suggestions!

Havent rode the sled yet, but my setup will start off like this, let me know what you think to get me close to where I need to be.

Sled year-09 sno pro
Track-162
Rider weight-190lbs
Altitude-3000-8000
Mods-SLP pipe set, PCIII, BDX intake, Cutler torsion kit
Primary spring- Stock yellow white (Ti?)
Weights- Stock 80g (Got 70-80g Cutlers too)
Secondary spring- Cutler orange
Helix-cutler 42/36
Gears- 54/66
Belt- 060 or 043?
3or4 weight primary- 3
Peak RPM-?
Engagement RPM-?

I like to do long pulls, but would give up a bit for it to perform better boondocking. Which belt, weights, and such would get me close?

Thanks

Got the first ride in, posting the updates

Sled year-09 sno pro
Track-162
Rider weight-190lbs
Altitude-3000-8000
Mods-SLP pipe set, PCIII, BDX intake, Cutler torsion kit
Primary spring- Stock yellow white
Weights- CPC 70-80s weight in at 78.3g maxed
Secondary spring- Cutler orange
Helix-cutler 42/36
Gears- 54/66
Belt- 060
3or4 weight primary- 3
Peak RPM-7700
Engagement RPM-3900

First ride, could only manage 40-45mph track speed in the pow up hills, thinking I need alot more weight in the pri, might order 80-90g cutlers? Tried different settings on the secondary, but made very little difference in MPH and RPM.

Anyone else running the CPC kit with the orange spring? What helix do you thing will work well? Strait 36?

I hear these sleds should be able to do 55-60 mph track speed, is this true?

If you call them, they will tell you a straight 38*. I ride 5-8K and thats what they recommended for me. Right now I have a 40-36 with the red/white spring in the 4th hole. Pulls pretty hard, but I am going to try the 38* and the orange spring soon. I'm running stock 80gr. weights.

i think a lot of you guys are heavy on primary weight - ESPECIALLY if you've geared down. Gearing down means you'll need to go LOWER on your clutch weights as the secondary opens easier as it sense less load from the track due to the lower gears. Thus it will over shift with too much weight - SO, lower the weights in the primary and see what happens! :D

PS - I sold my 2008 1000, but honestly, the best setup i had (and i tried at least 50different setups)

was this:

geared down to 56/64
046 belt (060's are a rip and not as consistant)
153 camo (barf!)
460lbs dry
i'm 215lbs nekd
Primary - STOCK ylw/wht - non-Ti spring (Ti shavings are VERY abrasive - go steel) w/ CPC adjustables loaded to about 77g's - still lightly tip weighted.
Secondary - had BDX cut me a 39/35 progressive helix - 35 sounds low i know, but the only time its ever in the 35* is when you are running on the trail at 100mph. Stock orange spring with shift assist and a M7 style helix (with reverese notch! - he he).

This was netting me some very impressive trackspeeds, great backshift and the longest belt life i ever - TWO WHOLE RIDES on one belt!!!

Now - i did fix the belt issue, but that didn't have anything to do with the clutching.
