Not sure I under stand what you're saying but stock rails are junk! They were too short. This skid has nice approach angle. I have evol shock so you can really get a plush ride with excellent bottom out resistance. There just isn't a easy way to strip more weight off of these things without sacrifice durability.

I do think approach angle is better now. As far as weight not sure where to go next. The body work is heavy but not sure how to keep strong and lose weight. I think some modified frame plates can save few pounds

progress

so today i am showing the installation of UFO for round slide carbs to drasticlly improve throttle responce.
second is the install of some cyclops led bulbs into stock headlight housing
very easy mod. use a dremel to cut out back of headlight just a bit and install.

Different

It's hard to compare the 2. The bikes are easier to ride for most and easier in slow technical areas. The hawk is more drifting style.
I guess after riding a yz300 smoker I would say that's it's similar to my hawk style of attacking the terrain. Don't be a quitter or ***** and get after it and a hawk will be the funnest thing out
