Bingo! You can see the freewheel clutch under the main gear (main gear on end of crankshaft) is turning and the crank is not or at different speed. That one way clutch is slipping. The freewheel is the larger diameter but thinner gear just behind the main gear. That clutch engages to connect starter to crank and then slips as the crank turns faster than the starter so the starter armature is not spun by the crank when the engine revs.

Are you sure? When it does grab it spins slow? I guess you need a special ktm puller to get that free wheel off. Anyone want to rent me one? HA

Main gear is one that drives the clutch basket. Unfortunately you have to pull the main gear to replace that clutch and takes a special puller.

It turns slow in part because it looses momentum when it slips. It will crank better with a new starter clutch.

Hard to tell from video if you made it slip. Could take more than hand torque to make slip. Any flat spots on rollers inside the housing?

It was definitely slipping in earlier video. A new one will help the starting.

Great. Those videos are great diagnostic tools. Glad to help.
