Hard to say, still early. It was still frozen drizzle this morning at 6400 ft, might have been snowing up higher, however, with the inversion it was probably even warmer up top

we rode up here yesterday on the east side of the hwy out and all around two top. snow is pretty scarce for the most part. getting off trail wasnt even an option at lower elevation, on average maybe a foot. we were able to find some good pockets on the leeward side of two top in the trees... almost waist deep but the snow varied sooo much. lots of wind blown up top, crusty. we even got some 12” fractures in the trees. dig down and take a look if you go. that weak layer of sugar was super noticable

Meant to update this yesterday, buy hey, it's Xmas time ... picked up nine inches on Saturday, west coast snow, pretty heavy stuff. Looks like the steep slopes could be a train wreck this winter. If the forecast pans out, looks like we'll be right on schedule for some decent riding for the holidays. Looks like we'll be socked in this weekend... we'll see

Are you grooming yet?

Nope, still not enough snow to start trail grooming in Island Park. However, little by little, snow levels are increasing. Sadly, storm predicted for earlier this week did not produce as much snow as expected.

If you simply can't wait, there is limited riding in the higher routes -- Black Canyon, Baker Draw -- but the ride will be "ruff".

The Reclamation Road/Flagg Ranch route also has considerable snow for riding, but no groomed trail.

No off trail riding is recommended.

Yeah, I went to the club Xmas dinner Friday night, and the groomer said at least another 12 - 18 before grooming starts. It was like this the last couple of years, and by Xmas we were up and running. NWS is calling for that "atmospheric river" mumbo jumbo next next week for the inter-mountain west. That covers a lot of ground but hopefully we get targeted...

Anybody have a list of Idaho sled tag vendors for this year?
Looking for gas stations, most dealers will be closed when we hit the road.

That's bad news...Going to be there on the 28th. Hope the beer is cold and abundant. Can watch Island Park sled videos on You Tube from comfort of Ponds Lodge Bar...lol So Bummed right now.... Bad thing about planning New Years trips rarely guess right on mountain range with good snow. If this one goes bad maybe next year we'll plan UTV trip to Moab or something other than sled trip next year.
