Is this normal?

Was putting motor back together and noticed this same thing on both valves can’t be right. Looks and feels cracked.

looks to me like that was from the casting mold

Yeah, I think that's what they call casting flash. Shouldn't be a problem; I wouldn't worry about it unless you see evidence of cracking on the reverse side.

If you are worried about this don't look at your clutches. Not cracked.
