Is this a craigslist scam or not???

Okay I was looking for some Klim gear and I finally found the item I was looking for so I called the # on the add. The guys wife answered the phone and she passed the phone to her husband. I told him I was interested in the item he had posted but I would like more pictures. He said he was not at home but he would look on his phone for more and he would try to call his buddy to see if he could take some pictures because the item was at his buddies house. I ended the call and did some more searching but was not successful. So I texted him back and said that if he could get me pictures and the item was in good shape I would for sure take them. He instantly called me and said again that he was not at home but he was trying to get there. He said that he has never sold on craigslist and was unsure about how to go about payment. I told him I would send him a cashiers check on Monday and when he got it he could send the Klim gear to me. This is were it gets strange, he told me he was in Seattle and was trying to get back home (I will not say where home is but its across the state) so he asked if I would be willing to get him $50 via Western Union so he could get there. I told him I couldn't do it at that time but I could possibly do it in the morning. He agreed to that and said when he got home he would send me the Klim gear and when I got it and was happy with my purchase that I could send him the rest of the money. I tried calling him this morning to discuss this further and to tell him I was not really comfortable with this there was no answer and I did leave a voicemail that was 3 hours ago and still not call back.

So with that story I am over thinking this or am I being scammed??

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Treat him like family. Only send the amount you are willing to lose.

Sounds like a scam to me. With Craig's I always deal face to face in cash only. You can use Paypal they seem to be able to get money back if the seller isn't truthful.

Yes, always face to face cash transactions on craigslist, meeting in a public place.

I just sold a couple of playstation 4 consoles I had pre-ordered for $850 each when they came out a few weeks ago, on craigslist. I posted in the ad that I would meet up at the local police station/sheriffs office (they share the same building), but so many people back out of the deal when they found out I was serious.

I ended up selling both of them for what I wanted, eventually someone not wanting to possibly rob me agreed to meet up at the sheriffs office.

Run Forest run.
Not worth the money you are saving. Let it go.

run away its a scam !open a pay pal account it's free and offers you protection. western union requests are always scams. it's just like handing a stranger cash:face-icon-small-sad

Thanks for the info guys! My gut was telling me that it was a scam, he didn't return my call from this morning and now his phone is off.

Definitely a scam. I have seen so many of these on Craigslist it's unreal.

I guess people will do anything for the all mighty dollar. What gets me is that he has pictures of all of his Klim gear and he posted his # and he gave the option for his address.

That was not my experience with Paypal.

Paypal charged me twice, the seller sent one item, and Paypal said that they would only send a refund if the seller approved - end of story, and end of my dealing with Paypal.

He promise you a free steak with the purchase? Yes it's a scam. You don't send money before you have the items. Paypal first sure but not cash/check/cashiers check.

Scam for sure, he needed money to get home so he could basicly sell them or send them to you. I think not, what a piece of $h!t.
