Google maps say about 10 minutes difference in time.. sound about right? What route do y'all take

I like 20 but if the weather is nasty or you’re in a hurry you can really click miles off on 84
Depends on how you like to drive.
US 20 is all 2 lane and takes you through Craters of the moon, Carey, Picabo, Fairfield and drops you into 84 above mountain Home.
Much nicer drive with lots of scenery..
If the weather is bad, 84 is a better choice as it is 4 lane and will be kept much better maintained. It is also probably a better choice if you are pulling a trailer as the hills aren't as steep or windy.

as said above^ 20 sucks with snow on it and in the dark for deer and elk!
If you're coming from IP you can cut across 33 from Rexburg to Howe and then down to Arco and save a little more time also.
During winter . . . I-84 is very well maintained.
