Hey all just looking for any info on clutch alignment for a 99 xc 700. Buddies primary was getting super hot today going through some slow bush trails. So I'm planning to check the alignment and clean the sheeves tomorrow as they are very shiny. Anyone have any info that might help me out? Thanks

If the sheaves are glazed, the belt will slip on the primary and create a lot of heat, especially at low speed and light throttle. A worn belt could also contribute. Lastly, feathering the throttle at lot right around the edge of engagement will create a lot of heat; better to use bursts of throttle if at all possible. Could be other causes, but those are the ones that come to my mind.
