This is the last true forum site left for snowmobilers.
We are allowed to have real in depth discussions without the interference of the site OWNER. The poor souls on any of the sites owned by Downward Spiral ( vertical scope ) have fallen to low membership and "vanilla" ONLY topics.
The "dont talk" mentallity of dood talk and other sites under the nazi rein of downward spiral and its moderator / toads of mindless lackeys is a shameful situation.

The recent trend to SELL OUT to downward spiral has ruined many hard core enthusiast forums. Yellow Bullet is now national enquirer ads and 300 cookies infecting you when you log on.

Thank you to Harris Publishing for NOT selling out to Laidlaw and his crew.

Without getting in trouble here, I'd like to concur.
The admins and moderators of the three other sites I visit are on here as well so I should be careful in what I say. But I probably won't and offend someone again....
I have not had a comment or thread deleted from SW since I posted photos of a prototype 660 turbo back in 2003? I think it was. Meanwhile I have been censored on the AC site as recently as a month ago when a mod tried calling me out for something I said. Meanwhile, it was totally ridiculous since the facts I gave had nothing to do with my actual opinion, I was just stating where certain "catch phrases" came from and who was first to market with those phrases. Yet I get called out and he tries discrediting me instead of reading what I was actually saying. Then in one fell swoop all of my posts were deleted and the thread was locked. All because he couldn't sit back and actually understand what was being written. But hey, Cat grips are a true inovation! Bahahaha
My only issue with DT is that it's so damn slow right now! I hate summertime when it comes to sled forums! LOL
But if I'm nitpicking, I did have a run in with a mod there too a few years back. Ridiculous thread where my opinion wasn't valid in his eyes. So he picks on me by suspending my account and crying about my avatar(Little cartoon bomb with his middle finger out)
He ended up being in the wrong, I was reinstated and a little Paint mod to my avatar and I was back in business with an apology from one of the Head Admins. I was told to steer clear of his threads and posts as he has developed quite the following of disgruntled forum members in his wake.
Otherwise the forum big hitters have their cronies that go around denouncing anything their master disagrees on. It is what it is, just ignore those threads and move on. I'm too old to battle with Tetonice/DPG anymore. It's nice when he gets to go fishing and leaves the forums alone for a few months. It's not why I use the forums any longer. I'm here to gain knowledge, not get into pissing matches anymore.
Meanwhile BCR is so slow it hurts me to go there every few weeks and see that one or two new posts are all that are there.
I've never been to Amsnow or HCS. And the others ones I'm on are all vintage sled ones for restoring purposes.

I've switched to DB and boat sites mainly now. Sled forums are the only ones I visit unless I have a question about my Cummins or I want to buy some boat parts. Then I'll log in to a non-sled related forum.

The reference is not to foul language or bickering. members who post their own BUILDS get pummled IF the componets or engine porting are NOT done by a PAID ADVERTISER.
It cannot be discussed or it is removed and the member penalized.
Then we have the old cronie who chimes in on ALL topics but has NO SLED PERIOD.. His rants go on forever AND he can chastise the OP of a thread without repercussion, strange new mentallity .. hilary esque :face-icon-small-dis

this site is by far the best for builds, conversation and just plain old good SLED chatter by like minded folks.

I believe that was the case with my DT issue. I recommended someone not on their 'approved' list of sponsors and shat got out of hand in a hurry. Can't go offering solutions unless a paid sponsor has the answer. Even when I ask questions to a certain motor builder(btw it's not SledHead) on there I get posts removed or 'minion' comments drowning out my question to which the OP never answers.

Oh well. Now I play their game and only offer advice if I know it won't crucify me. There's a lot of good guys on there(most are here too) but then there's some that have their minions that shoot down any form of discussion in favour of blowing their 'guru'

Yep, I was suspended from DT a few years back for simply answering a question that pertained to a product sold by a business I was associated with that did not advertise on the site. Even people that were not associated with the business were warned about even mentioning the business name. lol :face-icon-small-dis
So...we paid to advertise here instead.
 
Rollups like Verticalscope (the name says it all) are inevitable when "an industry" matures, shows you how much faster the lifecycle is for all things internet. But most of their properties will live and die on the quality and content of actual forum members, not advertisers or SEO (Search Engine Optimization). I would venture a large wager that Downward Spiral will cash out themselves soon enough. It's quite a list of web properties. Then their forums will morph again, and the next buyer may not be so ready for that. How much did Time Warner pay for AOL? And what happened to both of them?

Yeah guys, you are the real product, you provide the content. As you drift away from the DS sites, so will others. Keep up the good work, check's in the mail.
 
Well said guys, I know I haven't been here forever, but 07 is awhile and the content has helped me save alot of $$$$$$ I don't mind paying to be a member. PS wondering why this is in the Rev Gen 4 Form?
 
i would say its ok here. thats all. it used to be much better.

There are some loyal guys on here that prop up the 'experts'. Some of these superstars on here know what they are talking about and others are complete idiots.

i find the whole thing fairly amusing to sit back and watch. A smart fella told me once that news is created by those that will stand to benefit from it.

recently if i have any real advice to give anyone, or have a reason for a conversation, i just pm them

Sorry I been busy for awhile doing the airplane thing, I know how much ya'll missed me so I 'll get back on the Polaris sucks topic soon enough and I'll be posting the latest and greatest $500 game planned for this year, new terms that need apply and there will be stock days and turbo days this year too.
