Hood fit

Hi,
I just had the side panels and the hood of on the 19 M8000.
When puting it together, i noticed that there are some pretty big air gaps in the front, where the hood should meet the..uhm, fixed part of the plastics.

I´m unable to upload photos, to big files (changed the pixel size but the file is to big in terms of MB.)
How do i upload photo easiest way?

Regarding the air gaps. Is this normal? I saw some other thread with lots of answers. Some people sealed it. But is it so that every sled has this issue?

Don’t recall that big of gap. But there is a gap when hood inplace. Piss poor intake/hood design on cats. I use some sticky sided foam strips and stuff it in those gaps and keep it sealed up as much as possible.

I agree, it seems to much of a gap to be normal.
At the bottom of the hood, it is tight together. It is higher up it is gaping. Probably some millimeters. Really hard to figure out where it is wrong, i have tried to move it into the right position.
Seems like I might have to try some more.

I bet the front of your hood is sitting low instead of inside the air box. Ive had it do that where I thought it was in but it wasn't actually going in. Could even force the screw in with it like that but not far enough. Take a closer look with some good light.

Okay, i had another shot.

The red-market plastic is running on the inside of the airbox-rubber. (sorry if the english is bad, i hope you understand)

I'm doubting the hood is sittning low. In this picture, it seems like the marked plastic part is in the right height.

Finally, the hood fits nice in all connections. At the top of the hood below the handlebar, these things fits perfect:

With this construction of the hood, it seems like its always going to be some gap, more or less.
I'm riding tomorrow with a friend that has a 18 cat, i will check his sled and see how it looks.

Sorry for the imgur-links. I have not figured out how to get the pictures to show directly in the thread.

Seems like you have the same fitment issue that I'm having with my 2018. Were you able to resolve this problem? I've messed around with it for a few days with no luck.

In your third picture you see a piece of raised plastic top and bottom on the hoods intake, these both have to go inside the seal that is attached to the front of the sleds frame at the boot for the throttle bodies. It looks like the top is not in.

I'm not really sure what you mean. Can you re-post my imgur link so that i'm looking at the right picture?

Thanks

Lavskrikan, I think he meant this photo https://imgur.com/a/LHeXfhG

I'm not sure about you, but I'm 90% confident my intake plenum tabs (the ones you circled) are starting into the intake boot correctly. It seems like the two intake pieces wont slide all the way together at the top or something else under the hood is holding the hood from sliding all the way in to place.

The hood seems to fit correctly everywhere else except above where the hood and the intake boot come together, just like yours. All of the fasteners that hold the hood on, including the front screw, go right in.

Okay. I'm confident that those plenum tabs are correctly mounted into the intake box.
Seems like there are some extra milimeters of glitch in some places (compared to what other people experience).

I looked a little more closely the last time I put my hood together, making sure it was in as perfect as you can get it. I found I have very similar gaps to your photos. So maybe that is more normal than we think. Just never really looked at that angle before. My main concern has always been making sure the intake has no gaps not necessarily the hood as a whole.

I hope that's not the case. Having that gap at the top doesn't give me a lot of confidence that the intake boot and the lower intake plenum are coming together well enough to make a good seal.

I just noticed that my intake boot seems to fit tight to the frame at the top but hangs out about 1/4" +/- at the bottom. Can anyone confirm if this is normal? Wondering if the boot is installed incorrectly and creating my gap issue. You can see what I'm talking about in the Dropbox links below
