Headlight fail

2001 800 RMK first trip of the season no headlight either high or low beam. The blue high beam indicator stays lit in either position but no light. Dash lights are OK, brake light works but no tail light, no other electrical issues as far as I can tell. The sled is 80 miles away so I can't just check the bulb tonight. I will buy some before heading back up but would like to know if there is anything I should be looking for. Finally, is the light bulb just a standard automotive bulb (H4?), or should I visit the Polaris dealer here in town.

It is a standard. I would be worried that the voltage reg had gone out. Blown bulbs especially both high and low are an indication of that. If your hand warmers get really hot, turn them off so you don't burn them out. Another indication the VR is shot.
