G8 Gauge Details

So is it possible to view satellite images on the screen, kind of like google earth on a computer?

Yes - but it sounds like you have to load the sat image overlay, for the area you are riding, through the tread app. It’s briefly mentioned in this video.

With the buddy tracking not available outside the US, I'm hoping for a solution for us Canadians. The Garmin tread units track via satellite with built in in reach tech. Would be great to add that feature into the cat gauge.

So is the buddy tracking disabled on units bound for Canadia? Or how do they make it not work up there?

From what I've seen, it's got a beautiful screen. Makes the 7s look a generation old
It's great. Whether it's any better than 7s, i don't know. Definitely easy to look at. Rode a 154 and 165 snopro and didn't even bother looking at regular guage because it is too hard to see. Actual temp is easier to see on 7s. It is in bigger numbers unless on tracking.

Yes, agree. Functionally, it actually seems a generation behind. Garmin has some terrible UX. Seems there are huge input lag issues that could possibly be ironed out with optimizations

So the obvious question...why not buy US gauges?
It’s todo with the radio frequency used not being allowed in Canada. I like that the garmin tread is using satellite so maybe can adopt that over for Canadian customers. Tracking on my 7s is so beneficial now after 2 seasons with it.

So what happens when 2 or more US sold sleds that have the G8 gauge with the group ride activated come to Canada and rides in BC? Is someone going to stop it from working after you cross the border?

That's what I was trying to say.

Hopefully work fine, would be nice if guys could under the table crack the Canadian gauges or add the hardware.
