Front shock stuck down question

Last season my front shock was stuck down and I couldn't ride ..got a replacement But never replacedit last year and was going to do it today but when I looked over the sled the shocks were both normal position and not sure which to exchange..took sled for a quick trip and both seemed to work..any thoughts hate to go for a long haul and have it stuck down again....did it fix itself lol

Unlikely... I would remove both shocks, and springs so you can compress the shocks and see where the bind is. It's bound to lock up on you at an inconvenient time! lol

Was it pretty cold the day it locked up? If moisture gets in the shock it will freeze and stick the shock like you described, then when it warms up it melts and the shock appears normal. Best to replace it or you will have continuing problems.

Ya it was super cold the day we rode and fig that s the problem..guess I will swap one out and cross my fingers..lol..also shock came with spring off what's the easiest way to get is back on without a compression tool ?

Sounds to me like it was a hydraulic lock. And after sitting for a while the air bubbles worked there way through and shock extended or most likely enough of the oil leaked out releasing the hydraulic lock. If it is rebuildable get it can get them done from between 30-60 bucks each. Not sure about the springs, did it the easy way and bought the compression tool when I first started with shocks.
