Hello guys. I have 850 sled with broken top end. Can upgrade this engine to 9R with change just top end from 9R to my 850?

Have you thought about doing a carls 900? That would give you the 900 you’re looking for and you would have everything you need. I would think you would want to change the ecm tune, clutching, maybe even a few other things to just swap the 9R stuff over.

I second getting the carls 900 kit. Or just keep the 850 and upgrade the clutching and a few other items for the $$ difference

If your top end needs to be redone, might as well do carls. If you look on line the Polaris 900 cylinder is $1400, the head $380 and pistons $700 for the pair. That not even all the 900 parts you’ll need.

Yes you can, but cost less to do an 850 again but properly built. Use Terra Alps racing pistons, billet head and muffler and have more power then 900r kit or others non ported 900 kits.
If you want serious power, fully port the cases and cylinder, pistons, billet head, Y pipe, Muffler and ecm tune and you beat all your buddies.

Riding skills beat your buddies….sleds don’t?

Nothing wrong with giving your sled more power. There are a lot of reliable after market up grades. If the 850 is so good then why do we need a 9r, or a turbo? Because y not. Yes a good rider can do almost anything on a stock sled, but why not get a little further, or get there fast, I'm currently not doing any of that, I'm going for lighter weight. 20# cost me about 2k. Nxt clutching. Then engine mods, because y not.

Would you be interested in a 2021850 engine, 1000 miles. Runs good. Sled has been for sale but with the aftermaket parts im thinking about parting out
