As some of you may have heard already, the Yakima Ski-Benders snowmobile club is excited to debut a brand new on the snow event this season that we're hoping will prove to be a lot of fun!
On Saturday January 7th, 2017 at the Ahtanum snow parks, we'll be hosting our FIRST EVER Scavenger Hunt Ride and Raffle. Look for our club trailer and flags on Saturday morning when you arrive at the snow park, and be sure to stop by and find out all the specifics on just how it works.
A quick run down to give you an idea goes something like this. You'll stop by our club trailer and pick up a map (we'll be asking for a $5 donation for the map) and this map will give you a general idea of where to go looking for paper plates identified specifically for this event. When you find a plate (one plate entry per person please) you'll take it down from the tree limb it is hanging from and bring it with you. When you have finished with your day's ride, come back to the parking lot where we will once again be set up with our club trailer and raffle prizes, food, beverages, etc and turn in the plate to receive a ticket for the GRAND PRIZE DRAWING. There will also be kid-specific plates and a Kid's grand prize as well!
Regular raffle tickets will be available for purchase to win prizes, but the only way into the GRAND PRIZE drawing will be to find and turn in one of the prize plates that was hidden up in the mountains. There will be a designated return time so watch for that and other details when you see us in the morning.
We'll be serving hot food, pop, water, coffee, and perhaps even more to help refresh you from the day's ride (that you still get to ride where and how you want) when you get back down, so be sure to bring a few extra bucks with you and top off a great day of riding by winning some great stuff too!
The Yakima Ski-Benders club has been around for a long time and has been a huge asset to the snowmobiling community. We've worked closely with the land agencies to help preserve access and have spearheaded the effort to get the new North Fork to Jackass shortcut trail built. It's really pretty amazing that in light of all the closures and trail decommissions throughout the country, we actually managed to get a brand new one built!
