Failure in exhaust temperature sensor error

Just picked up a 2006 M6 600, 2100 miles. Check engine light is on with 7 flashes. I believe this is the Failure in exhaust temperature sensor. Took the sled out a little bit and seems to run just fine.

I have not found a lot with google on this one for some reason.

I could use some advice on what to look for/replace/repair for this. On a side note the headlights have been removed. One guy thought that would throw the check engine light on?

Thanks in advance!

The manual says that 7 flashes is for exhaust temp sensor. Also says if the resistance of the sensor is 0 or open (infinite) it should be replaced.

If you are lucky and test the sensor it will be open or shorted. Then it just needs a new sensor. If it has a resistance other than open or shorted more testing maybe needed.

Maybe someone with a pipe sensor can measure theirs to get a known good resistance?
