Factory Pipe heat shield rattling

What are guys doing to stop the heat shield from rattling on a factory exhaust pipe? Mine is just really loose on the pipe.

dealt with this on my 11.. i hand sanded, header wrapped, and hi temp painted mine. then crimped the shield back on/together over the top.
it works ok, but its not too pretty. just an option to consider if you like DIY.

however, i'd still consider coating it by someone who knows 2 stroke pipe coatings.

Just add a Few Strips of Exhaust wrap Underneath the Heat shield. May want new Hose Clamps..

Ceramic coating........... 1st thing I did with my Pro when I got it home fro the dealer!!

Ever notice how the slp ceramic coated pipes have the two bands around the pipe next to the exhaust sensor? I had a ceramic pipe on my pro, and smashed it. I ended up buying a pipe from a shop near me. When i told him I intended ceramic coat it he warned me that he tried it before and went though multiple pipe sensors before figuring out why. Theory is with out the shield or the bands like the SLP pipes the sensors get hit with a lot more vibration causing failures. And when I think about it went through at least on sensor while i had my pipe coated...

Had the same problem. Take a pliers and grip the corner edge where two pieces of the shield come together. There are a multiple places you can do this, but bend it slightly so it applies pressure to the pipe. (hope that makes sense) Did this last year and haven't had a problem since and you barely notice its been bent in those areas.

This will work as long as your insulation hasn't deteriorated drastically. Mine was wore through and had bare spots between the pipe and cover.. You'll know if its itchy to ever touch / work inside your engine compartment..
