Whats wrong?? nothing at all any build up falls out with a slight kick--anyway there is less buildup with the BRP plate than on the XM with the extreme skid plate , ran both of them together last ride, no comparison.
Not sure what the fuss is al about I like the extra protection and the floatplate.
But don't let me get in the way of buying extra Bling for your sled -- its good for the economy.
I personally find the Skidoo skid plate works very well. As you can see from the photos, there is very little room for snow to accumulate between the skid plate and the S module. The skid plate also angles downward on the outside to allow snow to slide off. In my own opinion, having the skid plate wider allows for better flotation and protection from rocks, logs, etc you may encounter, thus possibly saving your a arms from damage. I'm sure more aftermarket accessories will become available with time, however your options right now are minimal.
I'm curious if the skid plate actually helps the sled in deep snow or is it just for protection. I'd love to see a side by side comparison with and without. I don't care about protecting my sleds but if it actually improves performance I'd put them on my sleds. Every track I leave breaking trail looks like a trench with no ski marks so I can't imagine the skid helps flotation through the snow...
To me the look of the yellow one at least makes it look more like a duck or just throws the look off for me not my kinda style but would love a skid plate slid directly over three rocks already this year at low speeds. And yes I like my sled to look good so probably not going to get one until an extreme comes out.
