Expert Turbo over revving?

My 2021 Expert Turbo 165 was shipped on clicker 1 and revving 8,200 rpm at 6000ft. This was while watching the gauge in RPM display mode climbing a hill. I just bought 3 38mm pivot weight bolts ($60) and will try it this weekend to see if it brings it down to 7,900. Is it just me or should a stock sled be set up so we have some adjustment with the clickers not over rev and shipped in position 1?

I believe u should rev turbo 7700 or 7800 there is a dyno showing max hp 7700. The bolt will not be enough. U will rev 8k after it or 8100. I have the 38mm bolt and a 3mm shim from dyno Joe's and I am reving 8k mostly some times 7900 for a tiny bit check internet for dyno on turbo

IMO The profile of the weight is wrong, Changed out the weights set in clicker 3 engages at 3300 runs 7900-8000, 150/350 P spring

My thoughts exactly! Hard to believe that brp, a company that can engineer these magnificent 2-strokes, add SHOT and top it off with a turbo, is sending the sled out to the consumer with zero adjustment left in the direction of reducing RPM? Why even put the clickers on if that's how you're going to send the sled out?

What am I missing? I'm open to be enlightened.

well the turbo has been tested at 10,000 feet and that`s why they made the factory turbo, and that`s the clutching they put in. it`s up to your dealers to clutch for the elevation you ride at, not BRP,
no different then N/A sleds. not hard to figure out. if this sled makes 165 HP from 0 feet to 8000 feet,
you need to put in the low elevation clutch kit from ski doo. it will pull much harder and you will be on clicker 3 with some adjustment. it`s just that dealers have no clue about clutching, and want you to buy the clutch parts you need. go to your dealer and tell them to take out the high elevation kit and put in the low elevation kit. and you will see how much better it runs and how it makes more HP

I don't think that's the reason. Looking at brp's spec sheet for 6000f ft shows clicker 1. According to that data if they clutched for 10,000 ft it would be a different ramp and clicker 4.

you don`t know how to read that chart the 994 weight is from 3000 to 10,000 feet. after 8,000 feet the sled does not make 165HP. that`s why it`s on clicker 1 so when you go to 11000 feet you can click up one and gain tour RPMS back. or you can go to the 903 weights for 10000 feet and above.

OK yeah, I see your point. I don't think I would be successful convincing my dealer to change anything. Not even going to try. :ROFLMAO:

Why is the 1800M (6000 ft) highlighted at the top? Kind of misleading.

Those sleds come in either a low altitude or a high altitude package. Sounds like you got a high altitude. But don't worry. Give it 500 miles and you'll be looking for those extra RPMs.

Every sled I’ve ever owned has needed some sort of clutch adjustment
My Turbo needed weight from day1
@ 7-10k
I kept adding weight until I had 7900 on clicker 3
Sorry I can’t remember how much weight has been added but maybe 6grams?

What weights are you using?

Aftermarket custom cut weight. Won't elaborate more than that until I have more miles and more testing, I also run this weight on a TMS927 with a boondocker side kick with very good results.

Howdy. I separated out a bunch of pivot spacers in a little engine speed tune kit
You can put 1.2g + 1.2g + 1.8g on one pivot bolt.
If wanting additional weight spacers can let me know in the comments box on the order form and I can send out.

I ordered the weights, thank you for offering these and replying. Ski Doo told my dealer the Turbo's come on clicker 1 as they preform best that way. Their suggestion was if you ride below 8000ft use the 38mm bolts and add weights. Doo stopped selling the pivot bolt weights I guess as the parts department couldn't find them in their system. With the 38mm bolts I am at 8-8100 rpm at 6000ft so 1-2 grams should bring me back. In BC I rarely get to the 10,000 ft the way the factory shipped these out.
