Just put my sled in storage building for the summer and I wanted to let it run and warm up, but when I hit the button, no-one was home!
I put a recoil starter on it for "just in case" and it took off straight away with that.

Is there a common thing known to cause this, or doo I have to go in for exploratory surgery?

It did ride in the rain for a few hours on our way home last trip.
Actually, not sure if it has been started since or not?
Has been in heated shop.

Would guess battery toast. Had to replace mine last summer. 17 850

Run trickle charger on mine now. Seems to keep them in shape.

Would also check connections on battery before starter. Had trouble with 16 Summit battery connections and fuse at the battery.

hope it helps.

Could be simple. Test battery voltage. If it's that dead, will be under 12v. You need 12.4v or more. If battery is ok, move downstream, it's the positive term, ground, fuse, relay or solenoid. Unlikely to be the switch itself.

Yeah, I git that.
I was just wondering if there was any known issue, kind'a like the relays of older models?

I haven't checked the batt yet.
Of course that's where I would start, but it worked fine 2 (3?) months ago.
Would expect it to at least clickity click, but I guess we will see.

If your battery checks out try cleaning the starter with an electro cleaner. I have seen oil leak from the power valve “o-rings” , this would contaminate the starter. Good luck!

Your machine will have a very small solenoid contacting device in this system.
Can you hear it click when the button is activated?
If so, as the button is being operated, see if it the solenoid is providing current at the post/cable that leads to the starter motor .
If so, try tapping on the starter motor housing itself.
Long shot....... the commutator and/or brushes may be slightly corroded preventing brush - to - armature continuity.

Use the tried and proven P of E (process of elimination).
Test/replace one item ONLY at a time.
Move the next suspect item only after the previous suspect item has been eliminated.

When used methodically and systematically, the P of E won't let you down.

FYI..... when/if left connected and operating too long, trickle chargers kill batteries.
Purchase a maintenance or a float charger instead.
