Dynoport Pipe on a 860 Big Bore

I could not get any answers on dootalk so I thought I would try SnoWest. I am trying to figure out if the cost of a dynoport pipe is worth it for the gains you would see on a 860BB. I keep hearing that the DP pipe makes more power then the stock pipe but how much extra does it make.

Does it make 1, 2, 3 HP more? How about in the mid range?

There must be someone out there that would have some numbers. I don't want to spend the money if I am only going to pick up a couple of ponies. To me thats not worth it.

Not sure about the actual numbers but a buddy I ride with has the RK Tech 860BB with the dynoport y and pipe and the thing flat out rips. If it wasn't for the cost, loss of warranty and hassle of running mixed race fuel, I would already have one installed.

My sled is basically setup the same minus the pipe. I am just curious as how much of a difference the pipe makes and if you can feel it at the throttle. I am hoping RKT or Big John comments on some numbers.

I don't like to bother people over the phone if I don't have to. Big John or RKT is probaly to busy to be answering those types of questions right now given that the snow will be soon flying.

i'm waiting on BB from big john he told me the dynaport pipe and Y plus boyesen reeds would add 7 horse to his kit. 3 for the reeds the other 4 for the Y and pipe. i'm pretty sure that what was said.

Hope that helps

Thanks Leedoo. Those numbers are sort of what I expected. I would have to say that out of that 4HP the y-pipe makes up probaly 75% of it with the other 25% going to the pipe. Thanks for the info.

there r a couple other benefits tho.
i think it's a couple punds lighter and there's more room under the hood as that pipe seems a little smaller. That's gonna let me mount my muffpot under the hood on the pipe instead of on the bend in the can so my chicken's gonna be hotter.
I like chicken on a cold day

From testing last winter...DP is a must for low elevations up to about 7500-8000'...then it washes with the stocker (dont know why)...the hi altitude DP is too tight for the 860...

It also depends on whos 860 ya got...BJ

I hope Kelsey chimes in cuz a swear he told me he had really good gains with the DP low alt. pipe on his 860 above 7000ft.

I talked with a reputable dealer today who told me that the low elevation DP pipe will show gains over the stock pipe up to about 6500-7000'. He as dyno tested several different pipes on 860 BB's including twins on a land and sea dyno and said that the best single pipe was DP but made only 1-2 extra ponies over the stock pipe.

Big John, do you concur with these results from your testing with the DP pipe?

On my 860 motor at 1000' the DP showed 4-5 hp over stock...on a stocker it showed the same too...BJ

Can the stinger be removed from the pipe, which would make the pipe the same as the low elevation DP pipe?

Also, if the DP makes that much power, how much are we talking if a guy were to add a set of reeds, y-pipe and the pipe to an 860BB? Say boyseen reeds, DP Y-pipe and pipe.

John - I think you may have meant to say

"At 1000' , my 860 motor with the DP pipe, showed 4-5 hp over the 860 motor with stock pipe ...

on a stocker engine, the dyno showed the same difference between stock pipe setup and DP pipe setup."

That does sound better..thanks-LOL-BJ

1.5 for the y

1.5 for the pipe

on an 860

1.5 HP for the "Y" pipe..................

Is the DP "Y" longer or shorter than the stocker? Or is the 1.5 hp gains from the dimples being removed while.

I heated mine up at work and then rolled out the stock dimples. It actually came out rather good. I just wondered if the gains would be the same.
Stock with dimples removed vs Dyno Port "Y"
