[Mtn Escape]

Have recently found a problem with the drive clutch on an Escape (p85). Mounting tab for the spring cover is broken. The spring it self has come into question on if it caused it. It is white with a red stripe. According to the shop manual it is not listed. Could the spring have caused this? What could this spring be from? All last year, clutch engagement seemed good. Should I just put it in a new clutch.

Yes. Stock clutches are easy and cheap to find. Get a used one clean it up, install new buttons and spring and you should be good for several thousand more miles. Cheap peace of mind. IMO
