My little brother, Anthony Bing, was in a terrible snowmobile accident on January 3, 2016, while we were sledding together in the back country. Sledding is his passion. It was nearing the end of an amazing day of sledding together with Mindy, his wife, myself, my 4 year old son, and our mother and father when this horrific nightmare happened. We had all been playing on the hills all day long, Anthony decided to go up one last time. The hill got a little steep and Anthony's sled came right over backwards, spun 180 degrees and the track of the snowmobile landed on his leg while the throttle was stuck wide open. The scratcher (a metal bar that digs in the snow) went through his boot and through his achilles tendon which stopped him from being able to pull his leg out. Meanwhile the back end of the track ripped through his clothing removed all the skin and tissue and into the muscle and tendons on the back side of his entire right leg. While the track was spinning at 70 mph it was cauterizing as it ate through his leg. He put his hand into the track to free his leg and shattered his hand. I was quickly at his side and able to get him down onto flat ground where I removed my clothes to make tourniquets to stop the bleeding. We called an ambulance and my amazingly tough in shock brother road out to the parking lot where the ambulance rushed him off to the Whistler Clinic. The clinic did triage on him and determined

Skidoo does come with a tether. Most don't use it however.

So sorry to read this....I've read similar stories and that is why I buy a tether for my new Poo every year. There is sooo much energy built up in these sleds. Hoping for the best for your brother.

Over 10 years ago I was bumped off into a 8ft deep tree hole, not tethered, with sled running above me and pumping exhaust into the treehole. Could barely reach the track with both hands. Spun around and shimmied up the tree to get out before I was gassed, certain death. My buddy was stuck 200 yards away in the drainage and couldn't help. Learned another lesson. Tethers are not overrated.

Best wishes to your brother and his recovery.

Wow, what a nightmare. I cringe when I see people not wearing a tether in any situation.

Not to turn this political, but really makes a guy wonder why there is a huge push for universal healthcare in the US when the hospitals can treat their patients like that in Canada.. It's at least some peace of mind knowing what I signed myself up for by having insurance through the private sector.

Praying he is able to make a full recovery eventually.

Papa, which one did you go with? The ATV one? Are they universal pretty much?

Yes the Pro Armor tether is a universal fit, you can buy the tether and wire the ends on yourself and plug it in, or OFT makes a plug and play.

X2 toward all your thoughts...

Holy Cow that is horrible. I've always heard these horror stories and ride with a tether because of it. Unfortunately, I have riding buddies that think it takes too much time and effort to put them on. I'll be forwarding this to them. Hope it helps. Best wishes to your brother. Hopefully he can get back on the snow to enjoy the sport we all love.

OMG. I'm guessing most like me didn't click on your gofundme page to read the full store. I just read it all and my god prayers for your brother. And what a messed healthcare system you have there. I will donate to help your bro!

Sad to see these things happen. I had a real close call a few weeks ago. Damn glad I was wearing my tether. Had the track land on my head and when I got on my sled the throttle was stuck wfo.

Tethers

I used a universal watercraft tether from Ace hardware, Been riding with it for 6 years now, less than 15.00 bucks at that time, can be hooked up either N.O. or N.C. and works great. Don't ride with out that hooked up! Wishing the best for all involved

My wife and I always use our tether. I have had my throttle stick a couple times when I had a left handed throttle. I removed the left handed throttle also and learned how to ride without it.

Donated. Every little bit helps and a bit from many adds up.
