do you run after market reeds.

W
I have always upgraded my reeds to Vforce 3 reeds and had great results, mostly in how much crisper the bottom end feels. I am now wondering if there is much difference from them to the other after market reeds. Anyone have any input on the proclimb and what reeds they like.

I have the V Force reeds on my 09 M8 as part of the SLP stage III kit. The sled works great but, it's tough to tell how much the reeds contribute to the massive power gain over stock since the heads and cylinders were done at the same time.

Funny, I had always heard how great Boysen Rage Cages work and I saw some for sale on the swap meet so I called SLP and asked about how they would work out on my Proclimb and their stage II setup. I was surprised to hear they haven't had a lot of luck with them and that's why they offer V Force reeds as part of their stage III setups. Although, they had not tried the latest reeds from Boysen. I'm still wondering how well they would work....

The boyesens are sold in the speedwerx kits, and work great.

Over the years I've had nothing but good to say about the VF, last few years DTR has shown some top end gains w the boysens so I tried a set out and I thought they worked very good. I have found throttle response to be more responsive w the VF or the new style boysen. IMHO
One thing for sure the stock cat 800 HO reeds don't last and they are not cheep .

I only have about 650 miles on my 800 pro climb so no long term experience on the stock reeds there but I had over 4300 miles on my m7 stockers and never had a problem

Never had a cat reed go bad except on boosted sleds. Trying the Boysen this year.

stock are not that bad on price about 20.00 a peddle and you need 4

As for longevity it's only the HO that's hard on stock reeds.
As for cost if you look on Browns site $45 Can$ each.
I have not tried the Carbon Tech , which are now sold by
Boysen , might be a good option.

stockers never seem to last in our sleds and I'm mostly just feeling like trying something different. Its hard to leave what you know works though.

I've heard the boysen work well. Dealer helped one of his friends put a bdx hood and boysen reeds on his sled. On the stand there was a clear difference in throttle response when compared to his stock demo sled. This was on 15s last winter.

Reeds

We sell both v force and boyesen, but for the cat 800 the boyesen is the way to go for sure. Dynotech tested them and the picked up 6 hp in the mid range and 3-4 peak. The durability on them is really good too. I have used them in stockers and big bores for years now with excellent success. It's one of boyesens best reed valves.

For the Polaris, the v force is the best. Ski doo etec they are about a wash. v force a little better at lower rpms, and boyesen a little better at peak rpms.

I have a 2014 800 E-Tec, is it worth changing them out or not? It seems like every one is on the fence on this subject

Just my opinion...

I've never had luck with V-force, the tips have always chipped or cracked in a season of riding. I've run Boyesen Rage Cages on all my Cats since 2007, never an issue, even on my mod M1000 and now on my Arctic Edge 925. Good throttle response, and they've lasted at least a couple seasons after install. Turbo guys may experience a different scenario, though...

I would go with Boysen, The VF3's do not last over time like stated before. For a Turbo go with stockers doubled up. Do you wonder why the Axys has a so called fade, I bet the VF3 reeds are giving way slowly but surely, just a hunch? It is the one thing they changed in that engine that I do not like? Unless they made a special design to Polaris specs?
