CTC on a 07 700 Dragon

I am looking at buying a 07 700 Dragon and happen to have a bead on a set of Fox Floats.. Since I don't have the sled but need to make a decision on the floats soon can someone tell me what the ctc is on the front shocks?
 
I know my 06 iq chasis was 18'' c - c, Im surprised they went to a shorter shock as both years take the same a-arms if I'm not mistaken.
 
18.5" would work if you put in longer a-arms too.

18" WE shocks were a bit too long on an '06 Iq RMK a couple years ago, raised the front end a bit too much.

Not sure bout 06's, but my old man has 07 iq lx and I have 07 dragon rmk. The a-arms are not the same. Mine are shorter making sled narrower.

The 06 18'' shocks are on a 121'' sled. I'm not sure what sled hes putting it on as all he said was a 07 dragon, 121?, rmk?
 
my 2 cents...

If the Floats you "have a bead on" were not made for the particular chassis you are riding... you will be spending a fair amount of $$ to get them revalved for your application.

Factor in the cost of the service/revalve from a Fox specialist in the chassis you ride. I'd recommend Holz or Carls .. Figure on the total cost of these "deal" shocks with "all-in" including the expensive little stainless bushings (8 of them plus O-rings if missing) for the shock eyes that are different thickness for different sleds.

Just because the C to C distance is the same and they will "fit" on your sled, does not make good performing units.

Great shocks can be turned into bad performers if they are not valved correctly.

Sometimes, what seems like a deal is not really a deal in the end.... sometimes it is.

If you run too long of a shock... or too short, the chassis ballance and ski pressure will be thrown off.

I decided to pass on them for all the reasons listed above.. The WE shocks on these dragons have to be the worst setup shocks for a sled of that caliber I have ever seen. What was Polaris thinking? It would be like putting ACT shocks on a SnoPro..
 
Doug, you can get those WE to work right, there are good set-ups for them now.

I shot and email to Carl's and it's $350.00 to get them rebuilt/valved. It appears that a fair amount of people have done this... not sure what I will do if I get the sled.. Might wait until summer and see if I can get a deal on some fox floats..
 
When you called Carl's did they suggest their FOX Zero Pro upgrade option? Trust me 100% on this...(experience speaking here) if you are not buying FOX EVOL air spring shocks this is the best setup you will get on your sled for the least amount of $$$ outlay.

I have the rebuilt fired up walkers on one of our sleds and there is no comparison in performance to the FOX ZERO pro setup. The walker shocks are absolutely and unarguable inferior in perfomance and durability. The only advantage is a little bit of dead weight. Find your weight loss somewhere else as there is no advantage in FEEL to poorly operating shocks.

Save your money up and call Carl's Performance and tell them your vehicle setup, rider weight, rider style, and get some Carl's setup FOX Zero Pro shocks for you and YOUR buggy. Thank me next season after you've enjoyed them!
 
Doug, I agree with F-Bomb totally on this one. I bullet proof setup that will last for years and ride better than anything else. Just weighs an extra lb or two... Take that 2lbs off the rider and call it good. :D
 
Also a PS...your ride height and pressure settings on your entire shock package are critical to your sleds overall performance. How your rear suspension performs is directly reliant on your front ride height/pressures/ect and absolutely visa versa. That is why it's so important to buy quality setups for the application. Just another reason to go to a top notch shop for all of your sled needs. A shop like Carl's has a huge following all over the riding world because their setups simply WORK really really well. Might cost you a bit more initially then the EBAY/Craiglist sledders of the world but in the long long run your stuff always works as advertized and you net out as a happier recreational snowmobiler
