Coverting standard maytrx to a slash

From the looks of it the tunnel is now two piece. I’ve tried to find better pics or a online parts phish but no luck. Is there a reason why we can not buy the rear (shorter) tunnel section for a slash and convert the non-slash to the slash shorter tunnel? Like the cat guys can do. I’m assuming swap the tunnel half and trim the rear bumper down have a slash? Any reason why this won’t work? Haven’t been able to see one in person yet

Be aware, the RMKs/non-Slash have longer coolers than the Slash RMK/Khaos, same tracks. Removing tunnel pieces might get more complicated. Just need to see them both side-buy-side to know for sure. The 165 Slash uses the same tunnel as the 155 RMK, but with shorter cooler. The 155 slash likely uses the 146 RMK/Khaos tunnel, same cooler situation. Or, if you want a 165/163 Slash from a 155 RMK, e.g., you might only have to pull the flap off the RMK and add the Slash lip, plus track and rails.

I’d be building a slash out of a 155”.

Was hoping to not have to cut and weld coolers, that’s more of a project then I’m into these days.

Compelled to look. Base tunnel for the 155 Slash is a different stamping than the 155 Matryx RMK, it's not just a riveted extension. Pretty sure there are three unique tunnel stampings for the Slash RMKs - 146, 155, 165. The 165 Slash uses the 155 RMK tunnel but with a shorter cooler. The 155 Slash tunnel is only used on the 155 Slash in 2022, same cooler extrusion as the 165 Slash. The 146 Slash has a significantly longer cooler extrusion than the 155/165 Slash. I thought there was a 146 Khaos, non-Slash, but I was wrong, the shortest non-Slash Khaos or RMK is a 155. You can convert to a longer Slash, but not shorter regardless of cooler, without some serious tunnel chopping.

Why would you need to cut and weld coolers?

It ends 8” ish past the seat.

You might not be able to just buy the oem parts and do it but just cut the tunnel at the rear and make a bumper fit.

Tail tunnel pieces are available from Polaris, unpainted.

Looks like you remove the tail piece and cut the tunnel and re install tail piece.
If that's the case that's great news I have a non slash 155 pro coming for my daughter. If I can easily shorten the tunnel I will. Long story on why non slash.

I saw a khoas slash in person yesterday and they are one sick beast!!! Not a khaos guy, but holy smoke was that a sick sled!!!! I bet alot of guys are going to putting their khoas and pros on a tunnel diet and making their own “slash”

Curious if anyone has received a regular Matryx and has done or has investigated the tunnel chop in more detail. Looking at getting a floor model long tunnel depending on the amount of work, may end up just SCing a slash for next year and waiting.

It’s pretty easy to do. SMF’s posts above have the process.

I guess I was mostly concerned about the rear most stamping on the main tunnel piece on the regular Matryx being too close to the next stamping. I was looking at it from making it exactly the same length as the slash. I guess half an inch or so is fine, the slash bumpers I guess would just stick out a bit.
