clutch alignment

So what is the easiest and best way to align a clutch if you don't have the fancy AC alignment tool.

Best way to align it is to buy the alignment bar and use it. thats the most accurate way of doing it.

I'm not a believer in the alignment tool. Make sure your track is set at proper tension and aligned. Take out the secondary clutch bolt so it can freely slide. Spin the track and let come to a stop. The secondary will align itself to the primary. Measure from the stationary sheave to the bulkhead. Then push in the clutch and measure again. The difference is your offset. Then do a clutch deflection so the track just barely creeps along when off the ground but doesn't creep when placed on the ground.... Then for perfect results, repeat.

Thanks for the info. I am down for a few days waiting on parts so I'll have some time to try this out.

I totally agree, only thing is with no bar you can't check parallelism. Ideally check that first, then set alignment. This matters more if you've replaced mounts yourself.
Also when you set belt deflection let it warm up and check for squeeling. I did mine that way and all was great, until it got warm on the mountain and started squeeling so loud I didn't want to idle. Remember when you adjust it in the field your loctite can't set........makes an interesting day
