So I am looking at picking up a Ram 5500 for my sleds. It has a hauler bed on it but that doesnt work well for me with the trough. I want to be able to pull my goosneck up to the cab then load the sleds up on the flatbed and take them to the trail head. So I am looking for a bed that I can adapt ramps to and also has the hatch for the gooseneck. Anyone have anything like that?

Thanks!IMG_0151.jpeg

You could have a filler panel made out of aluminum or something to fill in the trough for when you want to haul the sleds. You could keep it in the trailer when hooked to the trailer. Not sure of the best thing to do with the ramps while hauling the sleds?!?

I cut down my sled deck for my single wheel cab and chassis flatbed. This gave me a spot for the ramp, expandable sides for when I haul the sleds and I can swap it back to a regular flatbed easily. This obviously wouldn't work for you wanting to tow a gooseneck trailer but it worked out pretty good for me last year.

if money isnt a problem you could always go to a welding shop and have them build you what you want instead of modifing what you have and you would probably be happier in the end. I know a couple of guys that cut their ramps length ways down the middle and use them as the sides for the deck when the ramp isnt in use.

Dieselwerx in Cle Elum, WA has a work n' play bed that would work for what you're looking for

Thanks for all the input! I ended up getting one with a CM flatbed already installed. Now I need to figure out a ramp and tires

Hijacking your thread a bit... I'm seriously shopping for flatbeds now after catching a box corner under my trailer. Recently came across this outfit out of Cody, WY. I think I'm going to give them a call and see if they can do a dually version for me.

The adjustable/removable slides and under-box ramp storage are nice features.

Looks like pricing starts at $8500 for non-skirted and $9500 for skirted with tool boxes. Not really any more money than what the nice skirted hauler beds I've been looking at are going for these days. And then I don't have to build a "sled deck" to sit on top of it.

Used to be able to get nice skirted steel beds for under $5k. Not anymore. $7-10k depending on what you want.

damn those are sweet flat decks by Dropout Fab, been dreaming of getting something like that built for years now.

These look fantastic! Ive designed that in my head over the last 10-12 years just haven’t taken the leap to make it. Sent an email to them to see if the bed will work with the factory gooseneck/5th wheel system.

That is one of the things I would be interested in too. The only other company that I've seen that does that on the Fords is Bedrock.

Called him yesterday. He has a provision for the gooseneck only - not the 5th wheel pins/safety chain holders.

He doesn’t currently had a dually in production but he is going to design it at some point in the near future.

Right now he’s 5-6 months out for bed orders.

Would an aluminum sleeve be useful to slide the stake into then pin to keep your ramp tied together?
Might only need 1 in the middle.
