Ceramic Pipe Coating

I got a quote of 150-200$ to have a full exhaust system, y pipe, pipe and can ceramic coated with Cerakote ceramics. Is this about average?? Just wondering if anyone else has had some done recently.

Normal yup, and anything is better than the paint Cat puts on their pipes. Since their inception, Cat hasn't figured out how to keep a pipe from rusting within minutes! Haha

Cool. Figured I would check first. They're a local business and Id just assume get it done there. I've tried the "high them paint" and all that stuff. Just tired of screwing with it. Although I did consider doing a wrap, I think this route will be the best.

I've been spraying the cerakote coatings exhaust paint for acouple years now. Its a lot better than off the shelf high temp paints. It holds up well to heat and lasts. I've been using it on all of my stuff. That cost is reasonable with each quart costing over 100 bucks and prep work requiring sandblasting with aluminum oxide.

cleaning

I have a Speederx Ceramic pipe on my sled. anyone have any tricks of the trade for polishing/cleaning the ceramic coating?

ceramic what???

So ceramic coating has become popular to sell pipes...........hey they look almost chromed. Run one awhile. Ask around, maybe someone has a handle on this stuff, but the steady stream of customers wanting their pipes and cans welded, got to grind off the weird ceramic stuff so you can fix the pipes. Already rusting around the spring mounts etc. Better off with paint and a can to keep it sprayed if you want things tidy under dahood.

If all you are looking for is tidy under the hood then then a yearly cleaning with a wire brush and a spray of high temp paint is fine but do not discount the advantages to quality ceramic coating.
Ceramic coating keeps the heat in your pipe and minimizes the amount of heat shielding you have to maintain on your plastic parts in close proximity to your pipe.
Keeping the heat in your pipe also increases overall performance by lowering under hood temp. Cooler engines run better, cooler belts last longer. Combine ceramic coating on your pipe with a good set of vents for maximum cooling gains.

I keep them clean with breakclean.works well.but im anal and check my chit after every ride
