hey fellas, was told along the road somewhere that the altimeter on my sled can be calibrated to be more accurate? is this true? who knows how to do it? anyone thanx...

When viewing Altitude push and hold mode. Alt will blink and you can scroll up or down to a known altitude. Thats it, its not any more accurate. It'll be off by 100 feet in ten minutes!

to find your closest altitude

go to www.airnav.com search for your closest airport and the altitude will be listed, u can do a search by city and state

Honestly, as av8r said. it'll be off in ten min... he's serious.

I've set mine at my house (5 min from where I ride & only 1500 feet below) and had it be off by 800+ at lunchtime.

if you think of it as a reference device, it's somewhat handy, but to get a legit reading, it's a waste of time.

I'll look at the bottom of a hill then at the top... then I know how big a chute I just climbed or whatever, but it'll change HUGELY from day to day.

Altimetre is basically a barometre ie. reads air pressure. So you can expect continual changes in altitude readings. Blue bird high presure days will give lower elevation readings then when poor wx dominates. If you see an increase of 300 feet after a lunch break expect some poor wx shortly. Changes of 800' are not the norm and likely mean your altimeter came from the same factory that makes the floppy steering bar. Good luck.
