If you think you are invincible or not. think about what slopes you are on.
Thankful to have working beacon and friends that knew how to use the tools at hand.
I did not have time to deploy my air bag as the avalanche came from behind and swallowed me up quickly.

The slope pictured is a prime candidate for and avalanche and obviously someone made a huge mistake playing on it or below it. Thankful this did not result in a fatality as it sure could have. IMO this was a very poor terrain choice as this slope has all the ingredients for an avalanche. This is exactly the type of slope that most of the time we want nothing to do with unless you have a death wish.
Steepness, treeless, loaded and the perfect convex for a trigger point and all are danger signals.

and the flat runout helped pile the snow up deep!

The rescuers are heroes not only for digging a brother out but for taking the time and effort to learn how first.
