BDX Chaincase Cover Dipstick

Does anyone have a fix for the BDX Chaincase Cover Dipstick , the yellow handle separates from the metal dipstick.

I just leave mine broken with the 1/4" of steel poking out so I can grab it with needlenose when I want to check it. If I got a new stick it will only break again when I kick it. Dipstick should have been put in front side of cover and checked with side panel off.
