Shes stiff. I think it will benefit big in the powder by removing the extra outside lugs like folks have done with the old 2.6 for years with good results. After seeing the 3" alphas fall apart the 2.6 is the one i would get. its 2.86p. Its a heavier track. the 3" is 3.5p, thats not many rods for the drivers to grip for a center driver setup=more stress.
but i dont ride deep pow nearly as much as i used to. that 3" is a monster in soft snow.

Is the Alpha 2.6 a 2.86 pitch like the Riot X or is it still 3.5 pitch like the 3"? I cant find that info definitively on Arctic Cat's site.

Rode a 2021 Hardcore 154 last week with the new 2.6 track. It is supposed to be a heavier and stiffer track that will hopefully not have the premature breakdown issues many are having with the 3". The intention of the fingers on the ends from my understanding was to eliminate the wash out effect that people are having with the 3" when attacking a side hill. I was able to side hill it with ease in deep powder as well as in marginal snow conditions and purposely crossed old tracks with zero wash out. So the design in the track works great allowing the fingers to bite and stop that major issue people are having with the wash out effect. That being said, it is only a 2.6 lug. Don't expect it to hook up and climb like the 3' in deep fresh snow, because it does not. Really hope they re design the 3" track.

I rode one on a 21' riot x alpha a week ago. It was in set up spring snow and the alpha 2.6" lug track was a monster. The grip on acceleration is amazing on the trail and in the trees. Going down super steep hills you had better control than any track Ive rode in a while. I don't know if its 3.5" pitch or not, Ill have to measure tomorrow. I don't think itll be a good deep snow and soft powder track, its a little too stiff. Maybe cutting off the extra lug like the old 2.6 will help powder riding.

If you google the 2021 154 2.6 alpha all the dealer sites have them listed as 3.5 pitch, also the Yamaha version is also listed as a 3.5 pitch. Hopefully that's true as my 3" is destroyed on my 20 and want to try the 2.6

its a 2.86 pitch. looked it over at the dealer. almost bought one. the prices on cats are very attractive for a 21 model you can buy and ride tomorrow.

Thanks for pictures and $600 cheaper? Wow, is that Canadian or US? I know the 3" is 1150 usd. May be a big swayer for me when buying, the 3" is 2200$ cad + tax ;(

wow, a 2.6 may be in my future, see what happens over the summer/fall. Thanks for the pic/info :)

I'd also assume one will want to re-gear, the LOW gearing was needed to keep the torque on the 3" track, but if you go shorter paddle you'll pick up some track speed and likely be gearing out darn near, so maybe 1 extra tooth on top gear? hmm. I guess we'll see what the factory gearing is on the sleds that have the 2.6 whether its the same or not.

You will be gearing up approx. 5% by using the 9 tooth 2.86" pitch drivers compared to the 8 tooth 3.5" pitch.

I wouldn’t count on anyone getting a track at $750. That’s pretty much dealer cost. If they’ll sell it to you for that, I’d say jump on it before it’s gone.
