26’ mtn top

Price is a lot more reasonable when you think about no extra money for fit kit plus no need to do anything to the
forks. I don’t have one yet, but I am seriously thinking about picking one up for next year. I have three years now on my riot three S and so it is time for a change. Also tempted to just buy another 129 riot 3S for about four grand new but all of my buddies who have the mountain top say that it’s not just a little better… It is a lot better. I’m glad that Alan is still in the game.

I’m still running my 18’ Aro 120 on my 18’ 300. I think I need a change, new bike new kit, starting to lose interest in this hobby, but I think it’s because I’m getting bored with my set up.
Without knowing, how do you think this kit would stack up against the new Yeti?

I am not the one to answer that. I haven’t even seen a yeti in the wild for years. I follow all their stuff and would love to have one though!

Fwiw, yeti vs mtn top. I rode a 22 yeti freeride for three seasons and a 25 mtn top this season. Both on same bike. In marginal to about two foot deep snow no crust I prefer the yeti. Less noise and vibration from the yeti. Easier to lean, less ski lift when climbing, feels lighter and goes everywhere the mtn top will. The yeti is also easier to make shorter. The mtn top is a deep snow machine. I plowed snow with the headlight two full days riding this season. That's is no bs. Difficult shifting and staying on seat and 3'' turbo got stuck following. Mtn top will outclimb yeti when I can keep the ski down. I had to extend forks maximum, pull up frt arm limiter strap max, and reduce frt shock pressure. Now climbs and goes thru deep better than yeti. I guess depends on priorities and abilities. I can't benefit from the wheelie factor because of agility of age but, for younger the MTN top can be a playful wheelie machine.

I rode a '24 mtn top(for sale) for a season and a half, and then put a 25 mtn top on the same bike. Noticeable difference going to the 25. The 24 was about on par with all of the timbersleds, yetis in my riding group. The 25 was better than all of them in the steep and deep. At first it wheelied really bad, but I pulled the limiter down 2 holes and made some suspension adjustments and now it's very playful and will wheelie when you want, but it goes in the deep snow and climbs way better.

A different (possibly better) way to do this is to tighten up the pre-load on the rear shock. Go up to about an inch on the rear and loosen the front just a tiny bit. This way you retain full suspension travel and keep the light ski pressure but limit the wheelies.
