Looking to upgrade my 2016 XM 174 for next year. I can get a 22 Summit X turbo 165 for $18k with 3 year warranty or should I order a 23 Summit X NA 165 with 2 year warranty for the same money? That is about the limit on what I'm willing to spend on a sled, so not interested in a 23 turbo for now. I can get the 22 now or take my chances with the snowcheck.

Depends on what u expect from the new sled.
Then Gen 4 is a slight upgrade from ur 16.
The Gen5 is a significant upgrade all around.

Turbo will have more power.
N/A will also have more power than ur current sled.

I would skip the Gen 4 and go with a 5.
The 5 is twice the upgrade.
That's just my opinion.

Can report that my 2022 Summit X w/Expert package 850 turbo 165" is an great sled, the power delivery is very predictable and linear through the entire rpm range and the 34" stance works. Will likely be deleting the T-motion to help side hilling in firm conditions.

The 850 turbo motor is really good........you won't go back to N/A sleds after having a boosted sled.

$18,000 for a new Summit X is a good deal.....enjoy!

If it were me making the choice. I would go 23 summit X 165. Or the 2023 model that does not have t-motion/flex edge track. Maybe its the expert? I think the G5 narrow chassis, narrow side panels, cooler clutches, new track, and other improvements in handling outweigh the turbo power of the 2022. Plus the 23 is 16 lbs lighter than a comparable 22 from what I read. But if you crave the need for boost get the 22.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm leaning towards the 22 w/boost. Maybe in a few years upgrade to a 24 or 25 with boost and it won't be such a bit hit to wallet at that time. Prices really jumped since I bought the 16.

Pulled the trigger on the Turbo, rode it all last week. Love it! I agree with those who will not go back from a Turbo. If the new ones prove to be that much better, I'll upgrade to a gen 5 turbo in a couple years, but based on last week I'm thrilled with the 22 turbo X.
