Anyone know what the difference is between the clutch belt used on a 17 Axys 800 compared to the one now on the 850 ?

They are the same size but the new 850 belt is a lot harder and less sticky. I tried the 800 belt on my 850 and lost rpms

I did notice the new 1216 belts on the 850's are made in Japan. I just pulled mine on my new 850 to wash and noticed it. I checked my 1183 off of my 17 800 and it is made in the USA.

"Made in Japan." Pretty sure every Polaris belt I've had has been made in US; I'm guessing that means they're having a different supplier make that belt. Not a big deal, just interesting if true...

I believe they are still made by mitsuboshi which is Japanese but are manufactured in multiple countries. I just have always seen made in USA on them. I have never seen one that says made in Japan until today. I am very curious how this new harder compound works, hopefully it is not to hard on the clutch faces. The 1115 and 1183 were pretty hard on the clutch so I'm a little concerned.

Ahhh, well, I jumped the gun on that then. Maybe noteworthy still. Not sure what difference it'd make being made in Japan over US other than cost, but looks like the price is actually the same as the 1183. I can't speak to the quality of either except to say I didn't see or hear of any belt problems with any of the 850s I rode with last season...
