The conditions aren't the best. Big wind and rain at Bluewood so they are closed today. Be careful in the current conditions. Here is a slab avalanche at Fuzzy just off the road to the Godman warming shelter. Over an inch of moisture past 24 hours and 40 plus at the lodge looks like a lake. Otherwise Happy New Year and think snow!624.jpeglive (6).jpg

our trip was to Rose Springs initially a **** show as the Schwab "heavy duty" chains fell apart (multiple cross links broke after 100-200 yards) and thankfully I carry bailing wire and got them put back together, got unstuck. g kids played in the area, built a campfire... all was good. Drive home was spooky as wind was 20-30 MPH with higher guts, and the road was full of snow with a layer of ice... it was slow going. Snowing like crazy!

We had some deep snow in Tampico. Black ice for 15miles was a nice touch...... I seen a bit of reshaped guard rail. Hope everyone is ok. The vehicle definitely was not with that much destruction to rail.
Peeps need to slow down and respect the ice. It can kill.

Hopefully u have deep snow in the blues also.

From what I saw 4 truck trailer combos hit or came real close to hitting that rail today. 2 open trailers and 2 enclosed. The enclosed were fubar'd. There was a home owner that came out and said a huge enclosed hit it last night. Looked like about 5 posts snapped off.

I stopped because I saw the person in my rear view break loose around that bend. In that short time I saw those vehicles, plus about 5 others slid but saved it on that section.

No one was injured but unless the County came out and sanded it, I wouldnt be surprised if that whole gaurd rail gets obliterated completely and someone ends up in the creek.

High winds lots of new snow and trails on top were drifting shut last night. Bluewood delayed opening this morning due to multiple trees down. Many vehicles were turned around yesterday as no more room to park them. The snow has finally come. Here is Bluewood picture this morning of overnight snow at the base.live (10).jpg20200111_092513.jpg

so riding with plan to go to Rose Parking lot... just out of Pomeroy road stupid slick... chaining up... new guy from North Carolina (never ridden) on the ground helping with chains... anyway, slick roads, sideways snow, we parked at Baker's Pond... we got to Teal and figured that was as far as we would go with a rookie... told lies and story as we ate lunch at Teal... GREAT DAY and the NC Rookie was okay and will get to take home good memories from the Blue Mountains...
