Off trail will be good North of Trailshead and West of Spearfish Canyon. It was snowing West of Spearfish Canyon when I left this afternoon. Some light chances of snow on Friday. More riders have been going North to ride than South so you may have to hunt some for untracked areas but they are there to track up.

Is it deep enough to avoid 90% of the stumps and rocks? Couple years back hit a block of concrete right between the front skies 15 ft off the trail and launched 25 ft over the bars. Fortunately the landing was soft. Sled was not so lucky.
Is trail 3 on the wyoming side deeper than trail 1? Appears that way on radar.

Rode up there in the north and south areas on Sunday.... Still some land mines just below the surface. Be cautious!

Thats typical Hills riding, one minute you doing donuts in untracked powder, the next minute you have the wind knocked out of you and have to dig through the snow and look for your A arms that were just ripped off......

Looks like a warm-up is coming. Really torn on what to do. Our group is planning to leave first thing in the morning. Get the trip in before it all melts or wait until next Sunday and see if they get a re-fresh. Restricted on time due to one guy in our group getting a new job that will be starting.

depends on what you like to do. just got back home to nebraska from two days riding. trails are in great shape everywhere we went. spearfish canyon lodge to trailshead and south to intersection of 12,13,1. we went satuday morning and put first tracks in grand canyon all the way to wagon canyon and probably had 5-6 fresh. Friday we rode 1 to 12 and found good snow in meadows but have to stay along trees to get powder in big meadows where wind had blown. smaller meadows were great but have to be adventurous to find. overall great trip.

Thanks! That's what I like to hear. Think we are heading out on Tuesday morning. Calling for some snow Wed - Thurs. Hoping that will amount to something up at elevation.
