2015 Axys - Crankshaft Position Sensor Code

Hi there- I have a 2015 Pro-S 800 (it’s the anniversary edition so it has the GPS gauge)

It’s been running odd/not starting intermittently (Has good/even compression l) and when I started it today the “diagnostic” menu on the gauge is showing a P0336 Crankshaft position sensor fault.

When it doesn’t start I have no spark/fuel etc

Do these sleds have crankshaft position sensors? If so where is it/is there a way to test them? I was looking at Polaris parts diagrams and I can’t see a sensor listed.

Thanks
Steve M

It would be the 2 pickups on the flywheel. There is a spec on air gap for them, or possibly you have a wire broken or going out. That code looks to be the 5 tooth sensor which is the left (or back) side.

Thanks for the info - I’ll have to do some digging. I’m wondering if it’s an ECU signal issue as it died and wouldn’t restart, I wiggled around the ecu connectors and it magically fired up and ran great.

Test drove it around for a bit and when I went to use reverse it died and again no restart. Gave a code of this now P168A.

Code P16A8. I would check the wiring harness from the ecu down to the voltage regulator. I have seen wires with the casings rubbed down to bare wire before. Hopefully this is what you find ? Double check your grounds too.

Just to update for anyone else having a similar issue - found the issue, forward most orange ecu wire/pin was loose/not making contact. It pulled right out of the ecu connector with little effort. Bought the Polaris 2205995 kit and extended the wire and glued the pin in as per Polaris. Sled starts and runs great.
