Well ended up pulling the trigger on a 2014 Yamaha Viper MCX 190. Super stoked to be back on a 4stroke turbo...I seriously considered a sidewinder again, but decided to hang back and ride a viper for this year...I wasn’t looking for a big power house...just something to head out with the kids and a few buddy rides......So planning on doing a few things to it but not getting crazy

I know it’s not the latest and greatest, but I love bringing old sleds back to new condition on a budget. Either with used parts, doing my own powder coating and changing them to work the best they can.

So have since then tore this sled apart to make sure things are ok. This year I probably wont get out much but wanted something to ride with the kids. This is a definite budget build.

So this sled has around 4700miles on it so I knew there would be some issues. Most of the miles were trail and meadows, so hasn’t seen a hard life.
The header was cracked, which is a typical issue in the 2014 sleds. Replaced it with a new 2015 take off.

The rear suspension had a slightly cracked rail towards the tip. I believe the way he had the scratchers mounted and the miles of vibrations on the trail caused it. I was going to replace it but ended up welding and repowder coating it. It should be fine since there’s no downward pressure in that spot.

I installed a zbroz center shock spring also.

I also had to replace the lower steering bracket as it was cracked. Something to watch out for on high mileage vipers.

I added skidoo xm brake and rer button....I wanted push button start the same as I did on my sidewinder. Works great. I also added polaris handlebar & thumb warmer switches.

I added a magnetic tether. Used a bracket from https://www.canadasledparts.com/to mount it off the riser. The bracket is meant mostly for the alpha vertical steering so I had to grind it a bit to make it work. He’s planning on make one specifically for the lay down steering on the Yamaha’s.

So it’s coming along pretty well. I just installed a wrap from http://www.spiralusdesign.com/

I found a mtx seat and got a local upholstery shop to replace the bottom blue with black 5AF73BC3-F4D9-4D06-BEF2-8CF68EB4A9E8.jpeg

Also getting Tom at https://xtremeairvents.com/
To cut a replacement vent for the one that comes in the mcx kits. I figured I’d have a hole through the screen ASAP. Lol. I sent the template so it should be an exact match if you want to order one.

What are guys running for a helix with the 190mcx ? This sled had a reground 51deg with purple epi spring. I was going to try 47 with Yamaha white spring. Mcx recommends 43 with white spring.

I seemed to work ok with the 51deg
