A buddy of mine found a low miles xf which on paper looks perfect for his flat land cross country riding
Clutch question
I read the 12-13s had clutch heat issue which used to be rectified by sending the secondary to Cody wy cat and they did some machining. Called em up and they don't really do that anymore. Probably cheaper and easier to buy later model clutches.
Just looking back in these two pages I see racin station has a whole '18 conversion but that's way out of the price range.
Would a 2016 team primary and secondary bolt right on without a different jack shaft? Which belt number?
Could you just use the team secondary on the 2013 primary? Same sheeve angles?
Is the '14-'15 secondary a step up from a 12-13? Probably direct fit there
It might already have been updated a dealer owned it in Missoula till a year ago, can I tell by eye if it's already updated?

2014-2015 secondary is a direct swap. 2016+ secondary requires a different jackshaft. 2014-2015 "big fin" secondaries have the cooling fins as tall as the outside sheave surface all the way across. 2012-2013 have shorter cooling fins that look more recessed. One of the big problems with 12-13s were the vendor was machining the aluminum, then heat treating the parts and they would warp. The 2014-2015 were supposedly treated then machined true and had better bushing material that handled heat better without deforming.

Another option is putting a Team/Venom Tied secondary on. This is different than the 2016+ Cat OEM Team secondary and is a direct swap using the stock 083 or 084 belts.

Thanks that clears it up!

What's the stock primary weight, helix, and spring combo. The parts breakdown looks like primary 0746-435 with green spring. And driven 42/40 with a blue spring.
The parts break down didn't tell me grams it just listed a part number
I beleive this one will be set up for 8000+ alt and he needs 1000 alt
141"x2" lug but he already found a good used 1.6 cobra

For under 3000 ft elevation, I had good results with the whatever the factory springs were on the 2014 secondary (and stock '13 primary). 42/40 helix, 75 gram weights (was geared at 22/48, then switched to 20/49). Clutching worked well with both. I replaced the primary spring with a speedwerx H5 alloy (can't remember which color) after about 2500 miles just to help with RPM fade from the original spring slowly dying

Looks like an updated secondary.

I've seen those adjusters before. Maybe a Cutler unit? There's an open hole on the front of the heads. Thought I saw on a diagram one time that it's for attaching a lifting eye when installing/removing the engine.

Is there a way to figure out which xf model we got? There were five different 800 xf models in 13. It had a hideous wrap on it so all the nice decals are Mia. Can it be in the VIN?

I believe that is the SLP Deflection adjuster, I went from a Big Fin to a Team Tied and I like it a lot better, direct bolt on and the Back shift is a lot better.
