Hey everyone. I need some help. I recently acquired an m7. Was told it needed an oil injection pump. Got it cheap so if it’s junk I’m not out much. It has a can on it. It will start right up but that’s all. When I throttle it it dies. 120 lbs compression on both cylinders, pumping fuel to the rail for injectors, has good spark. Any ideas? I don’t understand how the oil injection pump can cause this? It does seem to be pumping a lot of oil through the engine. I’ve heard when the pump goes bad it sticks wide open. Any help would be appreciated

Check the throttle position sensors and then see what plugs look like - maybe someone thought the oil injection pump was bad and added oil to the gas tank and it’s running super rich. You should find position sensor bypass plugs in the tool kit.

The sled doesn’t have anything with it other than second motor and another seat. It’s straight gas in the tank right now. I’ve been told to pinch oil line and put mixed in it. I’m just not convinced that is the problem. Looking for good tips on what to check for. I will research how to check tps. Thanks for your help

Unplug the throttle safety switch to isolate that (different from the throttle position switch that's on the throttle body). Broken primary spring can kill a sled when you try to take off too.

Where is the throttle safety switch?

So what should fuel pressure be? So far I’ve got this. Good compression on both cylinders, good spark, swapped the stator and flywheel, it has 50 lbs of fuel pressure. Unplugged the hand warmers to eliminate any chance of a short. Weird part is when I disconnect the fuel line to put pressure tester on it and pulled to start it revved the most that I’ve gotten so far. When I unplug injectors one at a time it revs a little bit too, eventually it will die. I still haven’t got it to rev enough to engage clutch

Throttle safety switch is in the throttle block on the handlebar. If I remember right the easy access plug to disconnect it is behind the aluminum panel on the steering post support behind the pipe.

What do the plugs look like and inside the pipe if you pull it off? If it's full of fuel and/or oil there's a chance it's just really flooded. Once you flood an EFI machine they are a real pain to get cleaned out. If the oil pump was stuck wide open there might be excess oil that's fouling everything up.

If you track down the service manual that should help you with questions like fuel pressure.

Thanks for your response. This is baffling me at the moment. The plugs look good now. I changed them several times now. They seem to be good now. I did unplug what I call the kill switch on handle bar and the hand warmers. I wish I knew someone local with an m7 so I could see if computer was bad. I have 2 computers but I don’t know if either one is good or not. Last night I was checking fuel pressure again to be safe, and while I pulled the rope pull and line was off of fuel rail, it revved the most it has yet. Odd to me

Take your injectors out and cycle with a 9V battery with some WD-40 in them to see if one is stuck or has something in it. That's what to do with the 800 injectors at least. See if you can hear them click when you put the battery to them.

Unplugged the wire harness the main one going to the handlebars that will isolate all those connections
