Anyone know where there's a 1978 Polaris RXL that might be for sale? any conditions. Please pm me if any leads. Also interested in finding a 1977 TX-L 340 or a 1979 Centurion 500.

I would give my left nut for a 78-79 RXL. A few pop up on vintagesleds.com from time to time.

I didn't know Polaris made an RXL in 78.

In 1990 there was a late season release of a small run that went to dealers only. I bought one from Forest Lake Motorsports in MN. My son bought (snow checked) the 91 production run. We also had the 79 340TXL Indy which was first year IFS production sled, and the 1981 Indy 500 Centurion IFS.

Had 79 TXL 340 and 79 Centurion 500 back when those were a year old.

Recently I found out I was wrong about when the 650 triple came out. I thought it was 1989 because we bought 3 new ones but then I found out they actually had those available in 1988.

Just didn't want you spinning your wheels looking if they weren't made then. But as I said, I have been wrong on occassion.

I might know where one still is. If it is still there it in his race trailer with all the spare parts. I kind of been thinking about asking about it. If he has it and I don't buy it I will let you know. And a bonus it is here in eastern WA.

No they were not fuel injected engines. Back in the day, they were untouchable and ruled the ice ovals. They were factory team Polaris sleds and not available to the consumer what so ever. There were just a handful of privateers that were given those to race. Very very had to get your hands on one of those. Hang on tight if you do manage to score on. I sure wish I had my 1980 txl indy back in the garage again. Someday I'll get another. Those aren't near so rare. Mine was just a daily driver back then lol.

Wait. I thought 1980 was the first Production IFS TX-L sleds? I have a 1979 TX-L and it was a springer. It's now an IFS however....And I will ask around here as I know where there a few RXL's at in that year era!
