  • I've received emails and PM's asking me about "Group Buys" and promotions.

    A Group Buy here on SnoWestOnline.com would be a situation where a normal member (non vendor or mfg) personally collects orders from other members. That member then uses those orders to negotiate a better price with the Vendor/Mfg for HIS/HER "Group" of buyers.

    A promotion that has the words "Group Buy" in the title is still a promotion, and from the rules that were handed down to me by Harris Publications is that non-advertisers cannot run promotions or open sales programs on the forums outside of the swapmeet.

    If a members wants to become a group buy manager, maintain a thread and collect the funds and negotiate a group buy... as a member, you are welcome to do that as long as you are not attached to the business of the vendor or Mfg.

    If you are a vendor/MFG and you want to offer an EXCLUSIVE "SnoWestOnline ONLY" promotion that is exclusive to snowest readers, please contact me and you'll be able to put it up in the Polaris forums.

    Also, before any vendors/mfgs get all "riled up" over this know that the moderators are strictly volunteers and do not receive a dime from any advertising $$ spent on this site.

    As ALWAYS, since DAY ONE of me becoming a moderator, I have pioneered, supported and encouraged vendors and mfgs in getting the word out to our readers with "New Product Announcements.

144 gen 2 track and suspension in a wedge 136

Hello from Norway :face-icon-small-hap

I my poor 03 gen 2 RMK 800 found a tree and died shortly after. And i went out and found my self a 98 RMK 600 wedge. But the track on the wedge is worn out. So i am wondering if i can take the longer 144 track from the dead sled and put it on the 136 wedge. Can i use the suspension form the gen 2 and bolt it in the wedge and the track will fit or do i need to drill new holes? :face-icon-small-dis

Yes, you can make that swap no problem. Just pull the measurements from the drive shaft of the donor sled to make sure you position the 144 skid in the 98 correctly. Also, you may need a longer tunnel extension.

take sled guys approach. and get some gen2 ('00-'01) drop brackets for the rear. your 03 should be edge chassis not gen2.

this is/was a gen 2. I have removed the skid from the donor and it is not in a great shape. So i need to think a bit more. I may just buy a 136 - 144 extention kit and take the easy way out ��

Here's a 98 700 I had a few years back. Installed a 2" x 144" from a 2004/5 sled. The 2" squeezed in there with the stock drivers. We used the stock 98 suspension with a rail extension.
You will need a tunnel extension..........I left the stock extension on sled and just cut off the little piece where the flap attaches. Picked up a piece of aluminum (welded the 2 corners) and slid that over top of the original. That will keep all the strength of the stock set up. And then just massaged the bumper and plastic to fit. You would never know except for rail extensions.
Overall pretty easy and a cheap upgrade.

Stock drivers?

You used the stock drivers from the 98 or the 04/05? Im looking to do the same on my 98 but going to use the skid out of my 05 900 rmk 159". Did you regear or anything? Thanks

Drive shaft and drivers from the 98. I believe the 98 came stock with a 1-3/4" lug. The 2" had to be manhandled a bit but once in there was app 1/2"- 5/8" clearance on the front cooler. As for gearing, I can't find my notebook from those days. I'm pretty sure I left the stock gearing. The old 700 had no problem pulling the track. Actually with the 7/8 years of technology, the 05 track was lighter and better lug design than the original 98, even thought length and lug was more.
