‘22 Lynx Boondocker DS 3900 - Elevation Calibration

Posting this in Ski-Doo since they share the same engine.

I ordered a Lynx Boondocker DS 3900 and am picking it up soon. I will ask my dealer the same question but figured I might as well as here too.

The DS 3900 comes from the factory with ‘sea-level calibration’. Does this just mean clutching, or more than that? I’m in Colorado so obviously will want it to be high-elevation calibrated like the 4100 is. Can anyone lend some ideas on this? Will I have to change a lot to be better suited for high elevation riding in Colorado?

Thanks!

I ordered the same sled, as far as I know you just have to change the clutching. As soon as I take delivery I'm having the high-low kit put in at Sled Heads Racing. (Big John)

I have the DS 3900 with the 2.5" track. I have Big Johns clutch kit from the sled I'm selling which is a summit 154 with 2.5" track. I'm putting the clutch kit in the DS and John let me know that I only need to put in the high elevation primary spring from ski doo that is standard on the DS 4100 or the ski door. . If I had the 3" track I would have had to change more.

Yes I ride island park and southern Idaho the most. 7-10,000 feet. You are probably riding at a higher elevation than I do. But you should just have to modify your clutch setup and be fine. Call John at Sled Head racing. His kits work really well.

My son and I picked up our 2 DS 3900's last Saturday. Everything is the same on the 3900 as the 4100 in regards to gearing but the 3900 has low elevation calibration. If you want to stay with the BRP parts you would need to change the primary spring, ramps from the 990 to 965, secondary spring and helix. I chose to go with the iBackshift kit from Dynamo Joe. I prefer the aftermarket kits so you can go from sea level to 13000' with a simple 5 minute pivot bolt and weight change. For me this works great as I ride 85% mountain and 15% local at 3000' and no over rev issue at home.

Did the new gauges come on the Lynx?

Regardless of the LE 990 ramps in the primary clutch, or the HE 965 ramps, with my clutch kit, just have to change the pivot bolt - 5 minutes.

Clicker 3 for 90% of the season. Clicker 4 for the last 10% of the season when the snow is wet/heavy/warm/less power

Ramp 990) 24.3g = 35mm pivot + s7mm + s3mm + s2mm = 98.6g @ 1000’
Ramp 990) 13.0g = TI30mm pivot + s7mm = 87.3g @ 10000’
or
Ramp 965) 24.7g = 40mm pivot + s4mm + s2mm +s2mm (w/steel arm) = 98.5g
Ramp 965) 13.1g = TI35mm pivot + s4mm + s2mm (w/steel arm) = 86.9g
